Short Bio see About Francine I would also like to add: I am or have been involved in … Downtown Alaska’s Festival of Flowers, G Street Fairs, KAKM auction, Painting A Day for Nepal at Blaines, Alaska Watercolor Society all members shows, and various other art shows around Anchorage. I am a signature member of the Alaska Artists Guild. I am on the board of the Alaska Watercolor Society, previous board member with Hawaii Watercolor Society, and San Diego Watercolor Society.
I teach silk painting , mixed media, and watercolor at Blaines Art Supply and I have an on going online 7 week silk painting course. I have been teaching this course for many years. I created the largest silk painters network internationally. We now have over 900 members worldwide who display art and share silk painting techniques. It is called Silk Painting Network. I wish to constantly grow and expand as an artist. To accomplish this, I am always taking classes, workshops as well as sharing. I will be teaching silk painting at the up coming Machetanz Art Festival in June.
I love many art forms. I have been involved in the new emerging art form of digital painting for over 12 years. I am actively involved with several online digital art communities. I take online classes in digital art and teach digital art privately. I have a series of “Alaska Digital Batiks” that Alaskans and tourists seem to really respond to. I have prints, cards, and giclees for these. I engaged in licensing my Alaska Digital Batiks and my other art forms with manufacturing companies. I am a photographer and I do digital portrait commissions.
I have owned a gallery in Laguna Beach called Art Spirit Gallery on gallery row. I have online galleries: Art Spirit Gallery, Silk Painting Gallery and many websites for each of my art forms. I am enjoy plein air painting in the summer and I am looking forward to going to The Greal Alaskan Plein Air Retreat in Wasilla in June.
I am a professional web designer. I look at this as another art form. I mostly design for creative clients like artists, writers and galleries. I have created websites for Girdwood Center For The Arts , Alaska Writers Guild, FaceBook pages for Alaska Watercolor Society, and help maintain various community sites and networks. Oh I recently started Alaska Art Scene with other artists for artists to share what is happening in the Alaskan art scene. It is a work in progress and we will see if the need or desire for this grows.
